New sign, new slogan

Look out for finalists next week

The Herald, along with the East Meadow School District and the Town of Hempstead, have asked elementary schools to come up with a catchy and appropriate phrase that captures the identity of East Meadow.

The contest was coordinated through the efforts of Town Councilman Gary Hudes and Town Supervisor Kate Murray.

After reviewing dozens of entries that were submitted in June, a team of Herald editors will select finalists. The final decision then rests with you …  the readers.

In the next issue of the Herald, an edition that will be sent to every home in the East Meadow school district, readers will be able to review the finalists, and then find out how to vote for their favorite slogan.

The entry that receives the most votes will appear prominently on two new “Welcome to East Meadow” signs.
