Youth fund benefits student group

Many youth groups and organizations benefit from the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Fund. Three local students and their advisor visited the Chamber’s general meeting on April 6 at Potter’s Pub to thank the organization for its support. Their robot tagged along.

The group was the Robotics team from W.T. Clarke High School, which recently competed in the Long Island Robotics Competition sponsored by SBPLI. The team did not place in the finals this year, but has a tradition at Clarke that includes a trip to the national finals. The money from the youth fund is received through a grant from the Town of Hempstead.

Sports posters

This spring, at participating local restaurants, stores and schools look out for the East Meadow Sports Poster, sponsored by the Chamber. Businesses in town were offered the opportunity to appear on the poster alongside schedules for the East Meadow Jets baseball, softball and lacrosse teams.

Steve Haller, a Chamber board member and owner of Minuteman Press, printed 500 posters. Parents of the athletes also received the posters.

Proceeds from the posters benefit both the East Meadow Parents of Athletics Club and the Chamber. For more information, or to get a free sports poster, contact Steve Haller at 731-4892.
