Bye Bye Birdie’s rock ‘n roller Conrad Birdie, pranced onto the stage at Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, when Plaza Theatrical Productions brought the beloved musical to East Meadow’s Eisenhower Park on July 10.

Recently revived on Broadway, Bye Bye Birdie is one of the most captivating musicals of our time, inspired by the phenomenon of Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957. It tells the story of singer Conrad Birdie, who is about to be inducted into the army. The fun-filled score includes “Put On a Happy Face,” “One Boy,” “What’s The Matter With Kids Today?” and “A Lot of Livin’ To Do!”

Music and musical theater lovers from all over the county came to East Meadow for the enjoyable summer stage event under the stars.
