A group of youth gardeners worked diligently to beautify the Parkway Elementary School lawn.

Those gardeners were Parkway’s fourth and fifth-grade students, who planted red tulip bulbs in honor of Red Ribbon Day on Monday. The bulbs were provided by the Parkway PTA.

The morning highlighted Parkway’s celebration of Red Ribbon Week. First, student’s pledge to be drug-free and healthy by signing a banner displayed by their classrooms. They then symbolized that pledge by wearing “I am drug-free” bracelets throughout the week.

Daniela Murphy, the school’s social worker, orchestrated the Red Ribbon Week programs. She joined with teachers, PTA parents and Principal Jamie Mack on Monday to help students plant the bulbs.
