Parkway students link with peers in Texas

Posted

In November, Linda Poole’s second-grade class at Parkway Elementary School in East Meadow recently collaborated via videoconference with students from Kathy Alloway’s second-grade class at Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary School near San Antonio, Texas.

The Parkway students have been collecting weather data throughout the fall season and shared the temperature and activities that they enjoyed here in New York. The Texas students shared their weather data and some of their autumn activities with the Parkway students as well. Students from both schools had much in common with the recent Halloween and Thanksgiving festivities such as candy, turkey, and pie, but also celebrated the holidays in their own unique ways. One example is that for East Meadow students, a highlight is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, while the Texas students enjoy river races.
