A man from East Meadow was arrested after a search for a suspect who police said allegedly exposed himself to a Mepham High School teen, and later made lewd gestures directed at Woodland Middle School students on April 20.

Police said on April 23 that they arrested George Rigas, 24, of East Meadow and charged him with Public Lewdness.

At about 3 p.m. on April 20, a 17-year-old female victim was walking in the vicinity of Mepham, when she observed an unknown male subject riding a bicycle back-and-forth on Camp Avenue, police said. According to detectives, the suspect was described as a white male with brown hair, a light goatee, wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, dark t-shirt and basketball shorts. As the teen approached Elbert Avenue and Newbridge Road, the man pulled down his pants and exposed himself, police said.

About 15 minutes later, students at Woodland Middle School in East Meadow reported to a supervising teacher that they observed an unknown white male riding bicycle while grabbing at himself and licking his lips, cops said. Police said the subject fled in an unknown direction.

According to court records, Rigas was arraigned in First District Court on April 23 where a judge set bail at $2,000 bond or $1,000 cash, and placed a temporary order of protection on the defendant. He is scheduled to appear again in court on June 7, court records showed.
