Police search for hit-and-run suspects

Posted

More than a week after a West Hempstead man was fatally struck and killed by an alleged hit-and-run driver on Park Boulevard in Eisenhower Park, police are seeking a suspect who left the scene after hitting a pedestrian during a separate incident that took place on Sept. 25 in
Bellmore.

According to detectives, at about 7:35 p.m., a male victim, 19, was struck while crossing Bellmore Avenue. The victim sustained injuries to his face, head and back, cops said, and was transported to the Nassau University Medical Center by Bellmore Fire Department emergency responders.  At press time, police said the victim was listed in stable condition.

Police said the vehicle fled northbound on Bellmore Avenue and is described as a dark colored Chevy Suburban or a GMC Yukon, with possible front-end damage.

Detectives ask anyone with information regarding the Bellmore incident, or the hit-and-run that took place in Eisenhower Park on Sept. 16 at about 9 p.m., to contact Crime-Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS. The vehicle in the Eisenhower Park incident was described by detectives as a Cadillac Escalade. All callers will remain anonymous, they said.
