East Meadow and other Nassau County residents commemorated Memorial Day this week to honor all those servicemen and servicewomen who have died in our nation’s battles. Solemn ceremonies reminded all those who attended of the great debt we owe the country’s heroes.
Earlier in the weekend, Eisenhower Park was the scene of a military “show of force,” with helicopters of various kinds making landings and takeoffs.
The traditional start of summer was celebrated in East Meadow while also displaying patriotism and respect for veterans.

East Meadow residents turned out in force on Monday to remember all those who gave their lives in service in the Armed Forces. The Memorial Day parade began at the high school parking lot, and contingents marched from Carman Avenue to Hempstead Turnpike to Prospect Avenue to the Town of Hempstead Veterans Memorial Park.
