Residents rally for Friendly Farms

Posted

Last Saturday, an energetic group of Friendly Farms supporters displayed their disdain for the county’s decision to award the bid to Cornell Cooperative Extension at East Meadow’s only farm property at Merrick Avenue and Luddington Road.

Friendly Farms, a tenant of the property for the past six years, participated in the request for proposal process but was not named the winning bid. Owners of the farm stand, Bernadette Brennan and Debra Murray, said they believe the process unfairly favored Cornell. County officials denied those allegations and said the RFP process went fairly and according to law.
