Rockville Centre's annual fireworks celebration, marking the village's 119th anniversary, is now set for the evening of Sunday, July 8 because of a strong chance of thunderstorms on Saturday evening.

The fireworks, by Long Island's Grucci family will start, as usual, after darkness falls, but additional entertainment and food options this year will get under way at 6 p.m. giving visitors even more reason to get to Centennial Park at Mill River early.

Starting at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, the South Shore Symphony will play selections from "Souza to Broadway" and will be joined by Leggz Ltd. dancers in a performance to "Stars and Stripes Forever." There will be additional performances by South Side High School's vocal virtuoso, Chrystalyn Wynter, The Voices of Virtue, an extension of the Hempstead Select Chorale and students from Miss Colleen's Elite Dancentre.

The event is free and everyone is welcome. It's a great way for families to enjoy a summer evening under the stars. Just bring your own chairs and blankets for the fireworks spectacular — now set for Sunday, July 8.
