State troopers stopped a Salisbury man last weekend for driving erratically and arrested him for DWI drugs and drug possession.

The driver, Richard Luke, 36, was stopped by troopers on the Northern State Parkway near Exit 35 (Route 106/107) on April 23 at about 12:38 a.m, state police said. While interviewing the driver, police said troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana and observed that he showed signs of impairment while also failing sobriety tests.

According to state police, an inventory search of the vehicle produced a black bag containing 39 grams of Hasish, 34 grams of marijuana, two valium pills, two methadone polls, two alprazolam pills, one glass smoking pipe with marijuana residue and one glass jar containing marijuana residue.

Authorities said the defendant was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree (felony) and 7th Degree (misdemeanor); Criminal Possession of marijuana 5th Degree (misdemeanor); DWI drugs and several vehicle and traffic violations.
