Posted

Senior Salonee Shah, 17, is the first student at W. Tresper Clarke High School to be named a regional finalist in the prestigious Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology.

Shah and two other students working as a group — Michelle Leonetti of Long Beach and Anirudh Nandan of Los Alamitos, Calif. — advanced past the contest’s semifinals and will compete in the regional finals Nov. 19-22 in Pittsburgh.

Shah and Leonetti were the only two students from Long Island to qualify for the regional finals. Their project was among more than 1,300 submitted by groups of high school students from around the country.
