Students to perform in prestigious concert

Leslie Ratner, and Sarah Shaiman, both from W.T. Clarke High School, have been selected to perform at this year’s NYSSMA Winter Conference with the Nassau-Suffolk Vocal Jazz Ensemble that will be held in Rochester. This is the first time that the Vocal Jazz Ensemble will have the opportunity to perform at the prestigious NYSSMA Winter Conference.

The Nassau-Suffolk Vocal Jazz Ensemble, a 24-member vocal ensemble comprising high school students from across Long Island, is selected by audition. Seven of this year's members will be performing with the All-State Mixed Chorus, Women's Chorus, Wind Ensemble and Vocal Jazz Ensemble and six were selected as alternates.

Under the direction of Robin Hall, who is also the choral director at Clarke High School, the Nassau-Suffolk Vocal Jazz Ensemble is beginning its seventh season as part of Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts. Anyone interested in joining the group should visit their website at www.nassausuffolk.org
