The Leisure Seeker

See the film the Leisure Seeker at the East Meadow Public Library at 1 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. It follows a runaway couple on an unforgettable journey in the faithful old RV they call The Leisure Seeker, traveling from Boston to The Ernest Hemingway Home in Key West. RSDSA Awareness Walk

The Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association will hold its annual awareness walk at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow on Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. RSDS occurs when the nervous and immune systems malfunction in response to tissue damage from trauma, such as nerve or musculoskeletal injury, surgery, or immobilization. Educational resources, sponsors, and health professionals will be on hand during the walk, along with entertainment, raffles and craft activities for children. Walk admission is $25 for adults, ages 12 and older, $10 for children ages 6 to 11 and free for children under 5.

Simple cooking: apple pie

This is easy cooking class at the East Meadow Public Library on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. Bring your own rolling pin and get the fun started. There is a nonrefundable $5 materials fee for each person cooking. You will have the food to take home, unless you eat it during the program. Space is limited.
