Toback’s promises don’t match his record

It's unbelievable that Jeff Toback just doesn't get it, and that makes me real mad, especially after our community spurned him for office last November.

He launches broadside attacks against our local assemblyman, Harvey Weisenberg, but fails to give even one solution to the problems facing New York state and Albany.

But that's no real surprise; it's typical Toback — right out of his failed campaign playbook: "Go negative" on his opponent and don't offer one idea or solution. Jeff baselessly did it to Howard Kopel last year and he's doing it to Harvey Weisenberg now.

Toback is a typical politician. He fails to grasp any significant issue affecting the South Shore of Long Island. But what is amazing is that, if elected, he says he would make lowering property taxes his main priority.

For 10 years he did not do that as county legislator. He raised property taxes by almost 45 percent, he enacted a 2.5 percent home heating energy tax that got added to our already high winter bills, he sank Nassau County into a $150 million budget deficit and he refused to take even one action to reform the out-of-control property assessment system. Jeff Conveniently forgets about his sad 10-year record in office. He should be conveniently forgotten about this Primary Day.
