Voters head to the polls in East Meadow

Election Day features pivotal state and federal races

East Meadow Fire Department headquarters, as well as polling places across the state, opened its doors for voters this morning at 6 a.m. for Election Day. 

Several crucial political seats are at stake on the state and federal levels, as well as judicial slots. 

It is also the first general election in New York where voters are using the new electronic voting machines.

Assemblyman Tom McKevitt, a Republican from East Meadow, was one of the first in line at EMFD headquarters this morning to cast his vote. McKevitt, who seeks re-election to a third full term, is being challenged by Democrat Tom Devaney of East Williston for the 17th Assembly District seat.
