Wanted: A slogan for East Meadow

Posted

There is something missing from two new “Welcome to East Meadow”signs that are scheduled to go up in the near future.

The Herald, along with the East Meadow School District and the Town of Hempstead, asked elementary schools to fill in the blank.

Some students were given the task of creating a catchy and appropriate phrase that captures what makes East Meadow tick.

After reviewing dozens of entries that were submitted in June, a team of Herald editors will announce the finalists.

The final decision then rests with you … the readers.

In the Oct. 10 issue of the Herald, an edition that will be sent to every home in the school district, readers will be able to review the finalists, and then find out how to vote for their favorite slogan. The entry that receives the most votes will appear prominently on two new signs that will welcome visitors to the East Meadow community.

In the issues leading up to Oct. 10, the Herald will publish some of the entries that were submitted from elementary school students from across the district.

The following are entries submitted last spring by Mrs. Pellegrino’s third-grade class at Barnum Woods.
