Dozens of residents came to the Elmont Memorial Library on April 22 to experience “Cole Porter Jazz,” a show performed by local three-member group the Paul Joseph Trio Band. For more than an hour, locals relaxed to the smooth sounds of pianist Paul Joseph bass guitar player Edgar Mills and drummer Michael Corn, who performed renditions of such classics as “Night and Day” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.” more

The Elmont Jazz Masters program has been turning musically talented students in the Elmont Union Free School District on to blues and jazz for more than 10 years. Under the direction of Elmont music teacher Anthony Pino, the highly selective program — participating students must first be recommended by their music teachers — emphasizes improvisation and high tempos. more
