At the Elmont Memorial Library Board of Trustees’ Reorganization Meeting July 21, Joanne Mazzeo was named the board’s new president. Mazzeo, an Elmont resident for nearly 30 years, was first elected to the board in 2007 to fill the remaining three years of Brian Lynn’s vacated seat. She served that three-year term — two years as vice president — and ran again in 2010, winning a five-year term. more
Maggie Gough, the director of the Elmont Memorial Library, submitted a letter on Aug. 15 announcing her decision to resign. Gough’s resignation will be effective at the close of business on Sept. 2. more

Tania Lawes’ last day on the Elmont Memorial Library’s Board of Trustees was June 23. Lawes served as president of the board for three terms, and as vice president for two terms, and chose not to seek re-election for the board position. Kathy Rau won Lawes’ seat in May, after running uncontested and receiving 943 votes. more
