F.S. district pauses reconfiguration proposal

The Franklin Square Union Free School District’s Board of Education made an announcement on Wednesday, March 16, at it’s regular monthly meeting, that it would put a hold on it’s proposal to reconfigure the district — a plan proposed nearly three weeks ago to create a middle school, and save the district $1.8 million by 2014-15. Under the plan, all Kindergarten, first-grade and second-grade students would be housed at the John Street and Polk Street schools, and fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students would be housed at the Washington Street School. more

Franklin Square school district: middle school?

At last week’s Franklin Square Union Free School District’s Board of Education meeting, Patrick Manley, the district’s superintendent, presented a proposal to save an estimated $1.28 million for the district, and implement important programs into its schools’ curriculum. Sewanhaka hosts superintendent search meeting

The Sewanhaka Central High School District is searching for its next superintendent, and will be holding a meeting on Thursday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m., in the auditorium of the Sewanhaka High School, at 500 Tulip Ave. in Floral Park. The Sewanhaka Board of Education is asking the public to submit comments for the superintendent search by March 4, through a survey on the district's website, but new comments can still be brought to the March 10 meeting. more
