Two years before she graduated Lawrence High School, Inbal Menashe was diagnosed with a very rare form of childhood cancer, Ewing’s Sarcoma, that often originates in the long, large bones of the body, including the hip, thigh, shin, chest and arm bones.

Two Hewlett High School teams, FlashComm and Future 1st Financial Services, were among the seven teams that took top honors at the fourth annual Long Island Virtual Enterprises Business Plan Competition at Farmingdale State College on Jan. 14 and advanced to the final round, which will be hosted by American Portfolio Financial Services Inc. in Holbrook on Feb. 26.

Four Lawrence High School students were named finalists in the ISWEEEP (International Sustainable World Energy Engineering Environment Project) competition, three are also finalists in the Intel ISEF (International Science and Engineering) competition, and all four won awards at the International Energy and Sustainability Conference at the Farmingdale State College High School Research competition, sponsored by the Renewable Energy and Sustainability Center at Farmingdale State College on March 19.
