9/11 Fundraiser
Commemorate the responders involved with the tragic events of 9/11 at a special fundraiser honoring the late FDNY firefighter Vincent Albanese. The event, hosted by the Always-At-Aum Yoga School, begins with a yoga mala (meditation). Following, NFL fans will have an opportunity to meet former top professional NFL players such as Wesley Walker, Bobby Jackson, Bruce Harper, and others. Kids can run drills with the NFL athletes and obtain autographs.

Outdoor Delights

‘Migrating Birds’ Nature Walk
September is great time for bird watching since many species pass through the area as they start their fall migration. Wander through Muttontown Preserve with a naturalist to see some of the birds in action, including the Great Horned Owl, Lawrence’s Warbler and Scarlet Tanager. A bird bander will demonstrate of the procedure used to track birds during their travels.

Art Adventures

NCMA’s Family Day
Bring the family to Nassau County Museum of Art for a special day at the museum. Take the kids on a docent-led walk-through of the current exhibition, “The Sea Around Us.” Enjoy supervised art activities, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Also spend some time in NCMA’s sculpture park, which features over 50 works, many monumental in size. For more outdoor fun, the museum’s 145 acres include nature trails ideal for hiking.
