Lawrence teen charged with two counts of aggravated harrassment

Carlos A. Rivera, 17, of Central Avenue in Lawrence was arrested Sunday for allegedly drawing two swastikas on the sidewalk on Oxford Road in Cedarhurst on March 7.

Police said, that Rivera was walking on Oxford Road and found a piece of chalk and drew the infamous Nazi symbol in front of different homes at 5:05 p.m. on that Monday.

The subsequent investigation led to Rivera who was arrested at his home. He is charged with two counts of aggravated harassment-first degree. Rivera was issued a desk appearance ticket and must appear in First District Court in Hempstead on April 13.

Village of Cedarhurst officials released a statement on the arrest. "We commend Inspector Lee Steinberg and his officers for quickly apprehending the subject." they said.
