Arrest in Hewlett fraud

A New York City man was arrested on Nov. 18 for the alleged theft of more than $39,000 from the bank accounts of a Hewlett man since October, police said.

Dwight M. Brown, 48, of W. 118th Street in Manhattan, allegedly showed the Hewlett man’s identification and withdrew the money from checking and savings accounts.

Brown was arrested at his residence. He was charged with seven counts of grand larceny-third degree and one count of identity theft-first degree, and arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Nov. 18.
