Capturing magical moments on set

At a voice over session for the television show, “The Simpsons,” Parise was able to take photographs of Stan Lee, the 90-year-old creator of Marvel Comics, and several other notable celebrities such as actors Ed Helms and Jean Dujardin for the comedy website created by comedians Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, Funny or Die. “I’ve gotten yelled at by actors and praised by producers so it can be a tough job sometimes,” she said. “But I’ve gotten to work with some extremely talented actors and smaller shoots are fun because everyone is just there to make people laugh and they have a good time doing it.”

Joe Farell, from Funny or Die, met Parise through her husband Alex and said Parise’s job is unique. “You have to have the ability to be in the center of the action to capture stills but not be distracting to the actors, crew or director,” he said. “She’s done a great job and there are a lot of still photographers out there but it takes a lot of courage to pick up and move to a new city whose main industry is entertainment but she’s come so far, so fast.”

Though television gigs are in the near future for Parise, she can’t predict where she’ll be in the long run. “It’s really week-by-week as I never know what I’ll be doing,” she said. “It’s always something different and new and I figure it out as I go. It’s both a challenging and invigorating job and I love it.”
