Cedarhurst village is applying for state money

The Village of Cedarhurst is applying for the New York State Office of Emergency Management a 2013 Unified Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant.

This grant effects properties that suffer severe repetitive losses as determined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Flood Insurance Program.

Examples of such properties include: acquisition and demolition or relocation of structures, with the conversion of underlying property to deed-restricted open space; elevation of existing structures to at least in Base Flood Elevation (BFE) or an Advance Base Flood Elevation (ABFE) or higher. (New York requires BFE plus two feet.) Minor and localized flood reduction projects.
