Man suffers burns after car fire at Valley Stream pool

A car fire at the Valley Stream Pool parking lot on Aug. 28 sent a man to the hospital with minor burns on his face and hands, police said.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, shortly after 3 p.m. the man approached his Nissan Pathfinder in the parking lot and saw smoke coming from the vehicle. He then attempted to extinguish the flames, which caused minor burns to his hands and face. Police said the fire appeared to be accidental.

The Valley Stream Fire Department transported the victim to Nassau University Medical Center. Chief of Department James Ervolino said the blaze damaged two other cars.
