Inwood VFW post holds Veterans Day ceremony

Members of Pfc. John J. Olivieri Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1582 conducted their annual Veterans Day ceremony outside their Inwood post’s headquarters on Doughty Boulevard on Nov. 11.

Originally, the day known as Armistice Day, in the 11th month on the 11th day of at the 11th hour marked the end of World War I. In 1954, Congress established the day as Veterans Day to honor all armed services veterans.

As a federal holiday, Veterans Day was also observed on Nov. 12 this year.
