Lawrence High School senior Samantha Rubenstein earned a medal for her top 10 performance in the role-play portion of the accounting application series category at the DECA International Career Conference in Nashville from April 22-27.

Rubenstein also reached the international level for the second consecutive year. Thomas Lira reached the international level for the first time and competed in the financial consulting category. It was the 11th year in a row that Lawrence had at least one student reach the international level.

DECA provides opportunities for students to develop skills in the areas of vocational understanding, leadership development, civic consciousness and social intelligence.

“This was another great year for Lawrence DECA, said Mark Albin, Lawrence High business teacher and DECA advisor. “I am very proud of the kids.”
