Built in 1928, the half-mile boardwalk in the barrier beach community of Atlantic Beach continues to serve the residents and visitors after it was repaired from damage sustained in Hurricane Sandy, nearly four years ago.

“I like boardwalk, it’s very relaxing,” said native Atlantic Beach resident, Jay, who declined to provide his last name.

Elayne, a Long Beach resident who declined to provide her last name, said she is living in Atlantic Beach while her house is being raised. She goes to the Atlantic Beach boardwalk everyday. “You need to have a boardwalk,” she said.
