Woodmere resident helps raise $26K fund

Woodmere resident Billy Gildin and Rhonda Grobman, both principals of Brentwood-based Satco Products, sought to offer a helping hand for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

They challenged employees of the lighting fixture and light bulb producing company to collect money that would be donated to aid people affected by Sandy. The national campaign produced donations ranging from $20 to $500. The collected money was matched by management, which created a fund with more than $26,000.

Gilden and Grobman met with Five Towns Community Chest officials and decided to donate a huge portion of the fund to the Woodmere-based organization for distribution. In addition, Community Chest recommended other Long Island-based organizations that Satco could donate to.
