Pet Adoptathon
North Shore Animal League opens its doors – and hearts – to encourage animal lovers to welcome a new companion into the family at its annual 36-hour adoption event, Pet Adoptathon 2011, this weekend. Beginning at 9 a.m. on April 30, North Shore Animal League America joins the 2,000 animal shelters around the world who will participate in a premiere global pet adoption event, sponsored by Purina ONE®, to help save the lives of homeless pets. The event kicks off on Saturday, at NSAL’s Port Washington location, at Pet Adoptathon national headquarters. Over 700 puppies, kittens, dogs and cats will be at the shelter, ready to find a home with a loving family. The event features family activities, including performances by the Purina Incredible Dog Team, with arts and crafts, and much more. Experts in training, care and grooming are available both days to offer tips and advice. Meet two-time Super Bowl champion Jarvis Green for fitness fun on Sunday.
Saturday and Sunday, April 30-May 1, beginning 9 a.m. North Shore Animal League America, 25 Davis Ave., Port Washington. (800) 214-4308 or www.AnimalLeague.org.
