AMIT honors seven leaders

More than 330 AMIT supporters gathered at the Sephardic Temple annual greater Long Island gala in Cedarhurst, where seven women were honored at the on Oct. 31.

Laura and Amanda Kornblum of Woodmere, Shevi Cohen of West Hempstead, Beverly Skolnick of Long Beach, Marilyn Grossman of Merrick, Rochelle Sroka of Plainview and Zelda Berger from Great Neck received the Marvin Leff Leadership Award. The honorees have worked tirelessly and given so much of themselves to AMIT to support the organization that aims to provide innovative education to 34,000 children in Israel, and to give those kids the tools to become healthy, contributing members of Israeli society.

Amanda Kornblum, a member of the Midreshet AMIT class of 2016, presented a Torah commentary on the profound impact her experience at the seminary has had on her life.
