AMIT honors Woodmere residents

Laura Kornblum and her daughter Amanda, from Woodmere, will be among the seven women that will be recognized for their service to AMIT at the greater Long Island gala at the Sephardic Temple in Cedarhurst on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. AMIT is considered the No. 1 educational network in Israel by the Jewish state’s Education Ministry.Amanda Kornblum, who attended Midrehset AMIT for her gap year in Israel, said the combination of Torah study and chesed (kindness), “truly planted the seeds of inner growth into the young woman I am today. AMIT lit a passion for chesed in me.” Midreshet AMIT in Jerusalem is a program for post–high school young women that combines a year of intensive Jewish studies and working with foster children in the care of AMIT.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. bountiful boutique and buffet dinner followed at 8 p.m. with a program and dessert. All proceeds will benefit the AMIT educational network of 110 schools and programs. $100 per person.
