Through the Angel Tree Project spearheaded by the social workers of the Lawrence Teachers Association 150 donated gifts were collected to give to school district students in need. Teachers, staff and administrators were given an age and gender of the students, while their identities remained anonymous. The program, began in Lynchburg, Va. in 1979, and nationwide runs under the Salvation Army banner.
