Five Towns pelted by snow

After a couple of days of spring-like weather, the Five Towns is being hit by a snowstorm, and a winter weather advisory is in effect until 2 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast calls for about 3 to 5 inches to fall on March 10. In the area now, the snow is covering the grass and trees, but there is no need for shoveling, residents said.

Temperatures are expected to drop Friday night into Saturday, and cause in icy conditions.

Roads could be slippery. Motorists should drive carefully to avoid accidents.

All schools in the Five Towns are open.
