The annual SIBSPlace auction held this year at the Seawane Country Club in Hewlett Harbor on May 2 attracted 220 attendees and raised $305,000 for the free therapeutic program.

The live auction was conducted by SIBSPlace founder Mike Shamroth, a Hewlett Bay Park resident, and there was an online auction prior to the live event. The two auctions had different items. SIBSPlace helps children who have siblings or parents suffering with cancer or another devastating illness.

The Hewlett-based program supported by South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside provides therapeutic services and activities that allow these children to “enjoy the normal experiences of childhood.”
