Approximately 100 bicyclists took to the back roads of Woodmere and Hewlett and raised $5,000 that will be donated to the survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing and the Moore, Okla. tornadoes through the Congregation Sons of Israel and Irving Place Minyan’s bike-a-thon on June 9.
About 15 volunteers also helped at the event that was coordinated through the congregation’s Sisterhood group. Donations are still being accepted and can be sent to Congregation Sons of Israel, 111 Irving Place, Woodmere, NY 11598. Checks should be made out to Woodmere Sisterhood.
