Blanketing Brandeis’s community service project

Posted

The Brandeis School’s Student Council under the direction of Zelda Kastin, began its first service project -- creating blankets for Comfort Cases, a Maryland based nonprofit organization that donates personal essentials in duffle bags to children entering the foster care system.

Students heard from the organization’s founder, Rob Scheer to understand the importance of feeling empowered when starting a life with your new family. Scheer was in foster care as a child.

Student Council members will be working on this project throughout October and November and it will be completed before Thanksgiving.

All of the fabric has been donated by Joann Fabric & Crafts. Brandeis will then be shipping the blankets directly to Comfort Cases using givebackbox.com.
