Brooklyn man arrested for assault on police officers in Cedarhurst

A Brooklyn man was arrested for allegedly assaulting two Nassau County police officers in Cedarhurst on Tuesday at 12:50 p.m.

Michael Wright, 22, of 1258 Loring Ave., Apt. 3D, had his Citibank account blocked and was asked by the bank at 530 Central Ave., to come in and discuss his account. Wright was allegedly involved in previous fraudulent incidents and the police were notified of his presence in the bank.

After two 4th Precinct officers arrived at the bank, Wright saw them, and fled the bank on foot. The officers chased him down and they both sustained injuries that had to be treated at a local hospital. They were treated and released.

Wright was charged with two counts of assault-second degree, grand larceny-third degree and resisting arrest. Wright is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
