Bruce Lee has nothing on Gary Schall

Warren Levi, owner of Warren Levi Martial Arts, in Cedarhurst, presented Lawrence School District Superintendent Gary Schall with an honorary Black Belt and a samurai sword, on April 2.

This rare honor recognizes a person’s continued support and contribution to the discipline of karate. The person is also well-respected in the community, and has demonstrated good character.

Andrew Katz and Menachem Feierman, from Cedarhurst and Far Rockaway respectively, both attained their 1st degree Black Belts; Mark Somerstein, also from Cedarhurst, was promoted to 2nd degree Black Belt and Paul Sod of Lawrence and Aileen Goldberg of Oceanside made 3rd degree Black Belt, on that Sunday.

Warren Levi’s students also met 8th degree Black Belt Norman Robinson, who comes from South Africa.
