Several local fire departments responded to a fire in a building at 175 Roger Avenue in Inwood, where a car was ablaze early Thursday morning.

At 5:31 a.m., the Inwood Fire Department led by Chief Joe Sanford Jr., who was first on the scene, responded to the call.

Sanford found a car on fire in the building. He encountered heavy smoke and used a side door to get in as the windows of this condemned, vacant county-owned building were boarded up.

It took firefighters approximately 90 minutes to get the fire under control. Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Meadowmere, Long Beach, Hewlett and Woodmere fire departments also responded to the scene. No injuries were reported, officials said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal and the police from the Fire Arson Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire.
