The captivating musical that tells the story of rock and roll singer Conrad Birdie, an Elvis Presley type, is presented by Lynbrook-based Plaza Theatrical Productions in association with The Show Place, Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m.

Recently revived on Broadway, Bye Bye Birdie follows Birdie as he prepares to be inducted into the Army and plans to bid a typical American teen-age girl goodbye with an all-American kiss. Kim MacAfee in Sweet Apple, Ohio wins the honor. Of course, when the rock idol comes to kiss the Sweet Apple High sophomore goodbye, mayhem and hilarity break out throughout the town. Bye Bye Birdie is a satire done with the fondest affection. Its frivolity is shared by audiences of all ages.

Tickets are $20, $15 seniors and students (ages 6-17); available at (516) 599-6870 or www.plazatheatrical.com. The show can also be seen June 5 and 12.

The Show Place at Bellmore Movies, 222 Pettit Ave, Bellmore.
