Caring for the community with free dentistry

Woodmere dentist Dr. Neil Berman and his staff saw nearly 20 patients as they opened their 141 Franklin Place Suite A dental practice for an inaugural offering of free dentistry at the “Dentistry Because We Care” event last Sunday.

Depending on their needs patients received routine dental hygiene checkups, oral surgery and restorative treatments such as fillings during the six-hour event that spanned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Dr. Berman, who graduated at top of his class in 1991 from Stony Brook Dental School, began as a general practice resident at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. He is now a teacher and faculty member on staff at the hospital, and directs the cosmetic and restorative clinic on Thursdays. He plans to make the free dentistry day an annual event.
