Nassau County Police Robbery Squad arrested Carl Petronio, 53, who the police reported as having no known address, for the attempted robberies of two banks in the Five Towns.

Petronio was charged with robbery-third degree and attempted robbery. He will be arraigned on May 7 at First District Court in Hempstead.

On Jan. 24 at 10:47 a.m. in Bank of America at 400 Central Ave. in Lawrence and on March 28 at 11 a.m. in Citibank at 530 Central Ave. in Cedarhurst, Petronio allegedly handed tellers a note demanding cash.

The police had asked for the public's assistance in identifying Petronio. He was apprehended following a police investigation.

Arrests
  WOODMERE – Juan Manual Escamilla, 30, of Woodmere, was arrested for driving while intoxicated on Fulton Street at 2:51 a.m. on April 28, police said.

Larceny
  INWOOD – A digital camera and cell phone were stolen from a vehicle parked on Randall Avenue between April at 9 p.m. and April 21 at 9 a.m., according to police.

INWOOD – Between April 20 at 3 p.m. and April 30 at 6:30 p.m., a camera, an unspecified amount of money and a toolbox were taken from a vehicle parked on Bayswater Boulevard, authorities said.
