Cedarhurst extends prohibited park hours

At the Village of Cedarhurst’s monthly meeting on July 2, the Board of Trustees voted to extend the prohibited times to enter Andrew J. Parise Park by three hours from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Neighbors in the immediate area of the park had complained of being disturbed by noise generated by basketball playing between 6 and 7 a.m., according to Village Administrator Sal Evola.

A public hearing was also held to prohibit parking on the west side of Arbuckle Avenue from Peninsula Boulevard. The decision was tabled after Village Attorney Jerome Levenberg asked for more time to consider the proposed prohibition until the case is heard before the Board of Zoning Appeals and a traffic study is conducted. One resident spoke in favor of the restriction because of traffic safety.

The next Village of Cedarhurst meeting will be held on Aug. 6 at 8 p.m. at Village Hall at 200 Cedarhurst Ave.
