Cedarhurst road repaving is completed

The road restoration project begun in February is finished, Cedarhurst village officials said.

The first phase involved digging out and refilling the trenches of potholes on Cedarhurst Avenue from Chestnut Street to Central Avenue, and also on Central Avenue from Washington and Maple avenues. Phase two of the project started in mid-April and included the final repaving and surface restoration of those streets.

The roads were completely repaved from curb-to-curb with new striping. All the finishing work was completed doing the Passover-Easter week, when the village business district was not as busy as usual to minimize the impact on our shops, shoppers and residents.

“The safety and improvement of our village is a priority for me and the board of trustees,” Mayor Benjamin Weinstock said in a news release. “We will continue to improve our roads and infrastructure within the constraints of efficient financial management of the village’s resources. We are already planning the next round of additional paving and drainage improvements.”
