Frozen pipe burst caused flooding

A frozen water pipe burst and flooded house at 35 Columbia Ave. in Cedarhurst that resulted in the 12 x 12 tiles giving way and the ceiling collapsing on Friday, according to village officials.
Six inches of water collected in the basement and was coming out of the house, officials said, adding that the incident was reported at 8:43 p.m.
No one was home at the time. The homeowner, a woman, is thought to be in a rehabilitation facility for the past two months, officials said.
