A roaring bonfire highlighted the annual Jean Fischman Chabad Center of the Five Towns Lag B’Omer celebration in Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park on May 10.

Lag B’Omer marks the death of sage and mystic Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, who many centuries ago wrote the Zohar – the source of Jewish mysticism known as the Kabbalah, which helps to better understand the Torah.

The party in the park also included archery, aerial acrobats, a huge chess board, music by Azamra DJ, races, tug-o-war, a petting zoo and food. The bonfire was prepared by the Village of Cedarhurst and for safety was manned by Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department firefighters.
