Christmas caroling in Cedarhurst Park

There were carolers was singing traditional Christmas songs, people gathered around the bonfire, chestnuts roasted on an open fire, cookies, hot chocolate and Santa Claus to hear the children’s holiday wishes all at Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park on Dec. 15.

The carolers represented St. Joachim’s Church in Cedarhurst, St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Hewlett and Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Inwood. Village Mayor Benjamin Weinstock continued what has become the exciting tradition of having the crowd count down to the dramatic lighting of the park’s Christmas tree.

On Dec. 22, Cedarhurst Park, at in the intersection of Cedarhurst and Summit avenues, hosts the annual Chabad of the Five Towns grand menorah lighting at 6 p.m. The menorah will be lit everyday of Hanukkah at the same time, except for Friday, Dec. 27 when, because of Shabbos, it will be lit at 3 p.m.
